Developer Conferences

It seems that Facebook Developer Conferences are all the rage nowadays! The San Diego Facebook Developer Garage took place just last Thursday. We weren't able to make that one, but I did get to go to the Palo Alto Developer Garage this Saturday! It was an inspiring event that is going to help us make Graffiti one of the best applications there is. I took a number of pictures at the event for your viewing pleasure.

We're also planning to be at the CommunityNext Platform Event in early October. It looks like that'll be quite the event, with many of the top app developers attending! If you're an app developer or are just interested in how these things are put together, check it out:

New: comments, art titles!

Hi everyone!

This is really cool - we've added a way to view individual Graffiti posts and comment on them. Now you can have a whole new level of discussion about your favorite artwork. Just click on a Graffiti post image, and you'll be taken to its individual comments page.

But wait, there's more! Since we expect the comments feature will bring many more people to see your individual Graffiti, we thought you might want a better way to refer to an individual post than "Graffiti post number 39990". So we're letting you title your Graffiti. If you're on the comments page of your own Graffiti artwork, you'll see a text field and a "Set Title" button. Go ahead! Be creative!

Keep those feature requests coming, and we'll keep fulfilling them!

A new look

Our main Graffiti page on Facebook has a new look!

As you can tell, we're going to be putting a lot more effort into the public user gallery, which will take submissions from anybody using our Graffiti :D. If you have a drawing that you'd like to have featured, visit our Graffiti Gallery page and follow the submission instructions there.

Text Resizing

This is the first of a series of many upgrades to come to Graffiti's text capabilities.

By clicking and dragging the nub in the bottom-right corner of the text field, you can resize the text field as you please. Dragging the nub horizontally changes the width of the text field, and dragging the nub vertically changes the font size.

Stay tuned for more exciting upgrades to text!

Drawing got 500% better

June 11, 8:21 AM PST

Added a color wheel to choose colors from, a brightness bar, and an opacity bar. We can now probably create any color imaginable. Pretty awesome.

Also, the 5 most recent colors are saved conveniently. That's pretty awesome too.

I'll elaborate when I'm less sleepy.

Or I'll make Joachim do it :D

Graffiti features

Hi everybody,

Over these past few days, we have seen some really exciting growth in Graffiti, and we are delighted at how many people are showing an interest in our application. We have been working very hard to continuously implement new features, so here is a list of Graffiti's current features for you to enjoy:

Enhanced Drawing Capabilities
• We now have 4 different brush sizes and 10 different colors, allowing you to create even more detailed and amazing art while still maintining the simple and fun atmosphere that sets our Graffiti application apart.
• The new custom cursor allows for greater ease of drawing. Instead of showing a normal mouse pointer, your cursor represents the size and color of the brush you are currently using, and its fine border shows you exactly where you are about to draw. For the smallest size brush, the outline is drawn in a larger circle around the dot, so even that is easy to spot.

Facebook Profile Integration
• One of the most exciting features about Graffiti is the fact that you can draw, save, and view your art without ever leaving your friend's Facebook profile page. The drawing application appears exactly where your saved drawing will be once you post it. The Graffiti wall looks and acts like your standard Facebook wall!
• We have included some features that are present in the Facebook wall, such as See All, Wall-To-Wall, and the ability to delete posts that are either on your profile or drawn by you.
• Graffiti has the option to mark some of the images on your wall as "sticky." As with sticky posts in online forums, a Graffiti image that is set as "sticky" will always appear at the top of your Facebook Graffiti wall, with new posts appearing below. Use this if you especially love certain Graffiti drawings and want to see them all the time!

Additional Features
• A number of extra links are present on the main application page. Using these lets you make the most out of Graffiti.
• The new settings page will let you change various details of your Graffiti application. Currently, you have the option of turning e-mail notifications on or off, and you can also change the number of Graffiti posts that appear on your profile at one time.
• We also have created a page where you can see the list of all of your friends who have Graffiti installed, so you can see on whose profile you can draw pictures. There is also a short list of your friends who don't have Graffiti installed yet, if you want to expand the range of profiles that you can draw on.

The Graffiti Experience
• We've constantly been refining the interface to bring you more options in a simple-to-use interface.
• We listen to your requests and try to implement them as soon as possible. For instance, several days ago you requested confirmation for the clear all button; we implemented that within the day and also added a neat confirmation message to deleting wall posts. Keep asking us for features and we'll do our best to make Graffiti work the way you want it to!

We received a great review of our application on Facereviews.com. Thanks, Rodney!

Stay posted, because we release new features [almost] every day. And of course, thank you very much for using Graffiti.

Sincerely,
Alex Onsager and Joachim De Lombaert
